Alfred Keller



Born in 1907 in Rorschach, Alfred Keller matriculated from the technical division of the St. Gall Kantonsschule. From 1925 to 1927 he studied music at the Zurich Conservatory (with Volkmar Andreae) and from 1927 to 1930 he was a pupil of Arnold Schoenberg's "Masterclass in musical composition" at the Prussian Academy of Berlin. His studies finished, he returned to settle in Rorschach. From 1931 on he worked free-lance in Rorschach and in and around St. Gall, conducting choirs and orchestras and giving private lessons in piano and theory.
