"The tuba is a young instrument in the history of music. But at the same time, hardly any other instrument has developed so much in the past decades, both in terms of its construction and in the technical possibilities of its performers. The musical possibilities of this instrument today encompass a vast spectrum, and it pays to discover them. I wanted to make a CD in which the tuba communicates with very different sound environments and ensembles. I would like to show different sound colours, from Baroque to jazz, from old to new, and I want to mix them up and sometimes also cross boundaries. It is a desire I’ve long held, and the present CD at last fulfils it" (Daniel Schädeli).
